Dignity Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This stunning quilt was brought to me by Susan. This quilt will be used as a Dignity quilt at a local care home that her church supports. What is a Dignity quilt?  The purpose of a Dignity quilt is to be used at the care home when someone dies, and there is a public exit from the building in front of other residents and staff.  Instead of seeing a body bag, the stretcher is covered with the quilt.  For the design of this quilt, Susan was inspired by a quilt that was made by the Crocus Quilters in Dauphin, MB ...

Hunter Star from Night Owl Quilting

Anne brought this bold Hunter Star quilt.    She chose the Bora Bora pantograph, which offers a nice density of quilting and lets all her beautiful piecing shine.

I like the detail at the corners and the variation in the background fabrics throughout the quilt.

Prairie Meadow from Night Owl Quilting

This beautiful quilt was made by Marlene.  The pattern is Prairie Meadow by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet.

All of the blocks are hand appliqued, and as always Marlene's work is just amazing.  Marlene had a vision for how she wanted this one quilted - with an edge to edge design!  Normally my heart would break at the thought of stitching across someone's beautiful hand applique, and I'm sure I asked Marlene if she was sure multiple times, but I do believe there is always more than one way to quilt a quilt.

I have to ...

Bear Chase from Night Owl Quilting

This beauty made entirely of batiks was made by Margaret.  The pattern is called Bear Chase by Glad Creations.

Margaret made this quilt for her daughter.  She chose the flowing Bora Bora pantograph which adds some softness to the top.

The backing fabric that Margaret provided is a Stonehenge Gradations wide back from Northcott.  It really added something special to the back of this quilt.

Scrappy Mountain Majesties from Night Owl Quilting

Sydney brought this wonderful Scrappy Mountain Majesties quilt for some finishing. Bonnie Hunter offers a free tutorial here.  The limited palette of greens and creams makes for a very relaxing quilt.

Sydney chose the Bora Bora pantograph which is a great design on so many different quilts.

Sydney's City Slicker from Night Owl Quilting

Sydney made this lovely version of the Highway 10 Designs City Slicker pattern. The pattern uses one jelly roll and some background fabric.  The fabric collection that she used was an older Hoffman Bail pop with a lovely warm colour palette.

Sydney selected the Bora Bora pantograph for the quilting design.

I know Sydney was giving this quilt away as a gift and I'm sure the recipient will be thrilled!

Blue and Yellow Scrap Buster from Night Owl Quilting

Karen dug into her scraps and made this wonderful blue and yellow quilt.  Scrap quilts are always fun for me when they are from someone I've quilted for a number of times.  I love looking at all the different prints and being reminded of quilts that have visited my studio previously.

Karen selected the Bora Boar pantograph and I love the flowing curls against the rectangle piecing.  Karen wasn't smitten with the original backing she brought along, and decided to replace it with the beautiful navy Stonehenge from my small collection of widebacks.

Isn't it amazing how ...

Knitted Stars from Night Owl Quilting

This lovely pair of Knitted Star quilts were made by best quilting buddies Amy and Reneta. (They even sent me one long piece of backing to use for both tops.)

The pattern is from Lo and Behold Stitchery.  Reneta and Amy selected different pantographs with different feels, but I think they both look great.  I always say there is never just one right way to quilt a quilt!

First up is Amy's version.  She selected the Breath of the Gods pantograph and the swirls look like snow in winter to me.

Reneta requested a more geometric option and settles ...

Pedal to the Metal from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta, Amy and Shalane joined forces to make this crisp modern Pedal to the Metal quilt.  The quilt is a gift for a lucky coworker.  The group quickly agreed on the Bora bora pantograph and I was off to do my part.

The Pedal to the Metal pattern by Highway 10 Designs utilizes strip piecing for a fast, low stress make.  I love the focus fabric that was chosen - cute penguins, polar bear, trees and igloos.

A lovely thoughtful gift!

With Glowing Hearts from Night Owl Quilting

The two quilts are shop samples for Keystone Modern Creative using the "With Glowing Hearts" pattern from Patti's Patchwork in both the "panel" and "all blocks" options.  The featured fabric collection is the Oh Canada! 10th Anniversary Stonehenge Collection from Northcott.  Northcott is celebrating with a quilt along and a contest that you can learn all about here.

The hearts were speaking to me on this first quilt, so I quilted it with the Pieces of my Heart pantograph.  It has very nice movement and the density felt just right.

The leaves on the panel of the second quilt ...

Glen's Hunter Star from Night Owl Quilting

I recently had the pleasure of quilting the fantastic king size Hunter Star quilt made by Glen.  It could have happily stayed in my bedroom don't you think?

Glen is a relatively new quilter.  He started over the winter when he was snow birding in Arizona.  This is only his second project!  He made his own templates and I have to say it all came together beautifully.

This quilt will be living in Glen and Angela's master bedroom so they choose the Bora Bora pantograph together.  We chose a very light taupe/grey thread that didn't call ...

A Pair of Tea Cup Quilts from Night Owl Quilting

Susan brought me two lovely quilts made from Missouri Star's Tea Cup quilt pattern.  This first one is in a lovely collection of fabric called "A Day at the Lake" by Wilmington Prints.  Susan left the pantograph selection up to me and I thought "Bora Bora" looked like the breeze blowing in off the lake.  This one is destined to live on a bed in her cottage and it couldn't be more perfect.

The second quilt was made in a beautiful line called "Petal Pusher" by Camelot fabrics.  I selected the Wildflower pnatograph and a lovely mustard colored ...
